The Youth Crew is for students in Grades 9 to 12 who want to earn volunteer hours or support their local library.

Youth Crew meets every Tuesday from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Bracebridge Library. No registration is required.

The Visiting Library Service is a free service for some patrons who may be unable to visit the Bracebridge Library in person.

Patrons may request items such as books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines, among other materials. They will be delivered to their home at a pre-arranged time.

Staff who help with deliveries are required to undergo a security screening.

Edible Book Festival returning to Bracebridge Library

Combine your baking skills with your creativity and create a tasty treat in the style of your favourite book.

The Edible Book Festival is returning to the Bracebridge Library to celebrate April Fools’ Day.

In the categories of professionals, amateurs, and children, participants will make their edible creations at home and deliver them to the Coulson Family Bracebridge Library between 10:00 a.m. and noon on Saturday, April 5. The judges will spend the next hour deciding which entries are the best before allowing the public to see the submissions from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

The winners in each category will be announced just after 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event.

Cindy Buhne, Adult and Information Services Librarian, says the event allows the community’s creativity to shine through.

“Participants are encouraged to create their favourite book titles, book covers or book characters using food,” she explains. “In past years, patrons have made some incredibly punny entries. While others showed off their baking skills and recreated scenes or characters from their favourite book.”

Registration for the festival is only required if you are entering the competition. Anyone interested in taking part can sign up on the library’s website.

Everyone from the public is welcome to attend and see the entries.
