Coding Projects in Scratch

A perfect introduction to coding for young minds! This updated step-by-step visual guide teaches children to create their own projects using Scratch 3.0. Suitable for complete beginners, this educational book for kids gives readers a solid understanding of programming. Teach them to create their own projects from scratch, preparing them for more complex programming languages like Python.

How to Be a Coder

By Kiki Prottsman | Free eBook from Libby (Overdrive)

Learn to think like a coder without a computer! Each of the fun craft activities included in this book will teach you about a key concept of computer programming and can be done completely offline. Then you can put your skills into practice by trying out the simple programs provided in the online, child-friendly computer language Scratch.

Python For Kids

By Jason R. Briggs | Free eBook from Libby (Overdrive)

Python for Kids brings Python to life and brings you (and your parents) into the world of programming. The ever-patient Jason R. Briggs will guide you through the basics as you experiment with unique (and often hilarious) example programs that feature ravenous monsters, secret agents, thieving ravens, and more. New terms are defined; code is colored, dissected, and explained; and quirky, full-color illustrations keep things on the lighter side.

Coding is a great skill to have! It opens new career opportunities and teaches important skills like critical thinking and problem-solving. If you have any questions about the coding resources the library offers, contact us at [email protected] or 705-645-4171.
